Hey it's Maryann, and I promised Alena I'd post so here it goes. I haven't come up with a new year's resolution yet, but I'm working on it. I like your idea to find your own song Maren.
Last night, Alena and I decided to go to one of my school's basketball games. It was.....interesting (since I was asked by this kid Jon to hang out - ... awkward!)
Anyway, I can hardly wait for sister's weekend when we'll all get to see each other. I think Alena has an idea to do "Calender Girls"...

Just a thought...

Hey, It's Maren!

Here's a couple of random thoughts I've had in the New Year.
1. At any point in your life, there will be a song that embodies exactly how you are feeling and why and you will listen to and love this song until it seems to get boring. But the song itself is not actually getting boring, it's just that that point in your life has passed and it's time to find a new song. I'm resolving to find my songs this year. Every time a song makes me cry or laugh or step back and look at things or just think, I will try to figure out why. Yeah, it's a weird New Year's resolution, to find your life in songs, but I'm doing it. Currently, my song is 21 Guns by Green Day. No idea why yet.

2. Thought I'm having just now: This may not be exactly what you were looking for when you asked me to write in this blog. Whoopsie!

3. I really need to get in shape. I want to be on the track team, and there is no way that's happening when I'm in this kind of shape. So, I resolve to run or work out or something five days a week.

4. I have always considered myself sensible and thoughtful and provacative, more so than the average 14-year-old girl, but I'm really not. Most of the things I do make sense to me (maybe) but not to the rest of the human species. Therefore, I resolve to think through my decisions more and try to be more rational.

5. I love writing. It's my creative outlet. And I need to do it more. I need to write every chance I get, excercise my creativity. Hopefully, if I do this, I'll get good enough that someone will want to read what I say and I can get published.

So there's my resolutions. Find my songs, get in shape, be reasonable, write it all down. hopefully that's doable.

Miss all of you like crazy! I hope to see you all at sister's weekend! And let me know if I'm writing the totally wrong this in this bloggie thingie. Never done this before, so I'm kinda clueless.
Happy New Year to all of you! Alena, I loved your thought about unconditionally loving those we don't like. I know we've all heard it before--you know Jesus Christ, Buddha, and all those good guys, but it's something I really needed to hear right now.

As far as resolutions...I am trying to make more space in my life for a few things that make me feel so much better: writing and yoga. Maren got me a book for Xmas that Teresa had brought with her when she was visiting. I've just done my first full week of the series/vinyasas and I have to say I'm a bit sore. Not sure if it's just the yoga though because we've been skiing a lot.

It's cold here--15 degrees now, but it hasn't been getting much over 30 and there's more snow here than some people in town have EVER seen. Actually, I think it's quite magical.

I guess I am blathering on. Oh yeah, other 'resolutions'--keep in touch with the people I love. So thanks for creating this vehicle, ladies! Cheers, and I love you!!
